The AFAC was established in 1967 to provide members and their dependents an educational opportunity to develop skills in aeronautics including piloting, navigation, mechanics, and other related aeronautical sciences. The Club provides facility access to Crownair FBO's Executive Airpark (formerly Gibbs FBO) and a hangar, designed to meet the recreational needs for low-cost, safe, light aircraft operations and is committed to providing social programs in the interest of promoting club activities and morale.
The AFAC currently owns and operates one C172 180hp Skyhawk, one C172 160hp Skyhawk with dual Garmin G5 glass panel and IFR GPS, and one leased PA28 Archer II also with dual Garmin G5 glass panel and IFR GPS, plus auto-pilot and digital engine monitor. All are equipped with Stratus ADS-B OUT and IN for interface with Foreflight. Instruction is offered in all of our aircraft through club member CFIs and CFIIs.
AFAC membership is open to anyone pursuing flight instruction, active duty and reserve military (including service academy and ROTC midshipmen and cadets), military veterans/retirees, federal/state/city employees, and any dependents of the aforementioned categories.
