This newly forming club (02-01-2024) has a trainer, an Aero Commander 100 Darter, at its disposal. The Darter is comparable to the venerable 172 with 150hp, but it holds a little more fuel and can carry more weight. Unfortunately, it is just as slow. Though the planes type certificate does allow it to be certified IFR, it currently is not. There is 1500 hours left on the engine before TBO. A non-WAAS 430 and a glide slope is in the panel currently which is okay for IFR training.
For the hourly rate, I included a 100 hour inspection at $1,100, three oil changes at 50 hours at $150 each per year, oil consumption at $1.20 per hour, $25/hour engine overhaul reserve, $10/hour prop overhaul reserve and $10/hour general maintenance. So total hourly rate rounds up to $57/hour. My goal is to be, including insurance, at least $50 an hour less expensive than local renting.
The goal is to have enough members to add a traveler and possibly a tailwheel plane. of TBD types. The great news is that the club already has a fantastic hangar situation. Restrooms, club house, power, gate access, the works!
I currently anticipate forming a not-for-profit business entity. Please call David with interest and/or questions. 830-377-2752
