Elixir Aircraft prepares for U.S. arrival.

Since its creation in 2015, Elixir Aircraft has pursued a simple objective: To design and manufacture a safer, greener, more economical Part 23 certified aircraft, by providing relevant, modern, and innovative answers to the recurring problems encountered by general aviation.

Elixir Aircraft is born from a basic observation: Complexity is the main source of failures (technical or human) in today's aviation. To respond to this, Elixir Aircraft has introduced the OneShot carbon process in the design of its aircraft, a technology derived from competitive sailing, allowing it to greatly simplify the main aircraft structure and ushering in the fourth generation of composite aircraft design.

The OneShot technique consists of designing and manufacturing complex elements without structural assemblies. More simplicity means fewer points of failure, which increases safety. With this in mind, the company decided to create a never-before-seen airframe. The majority of the airframe structure consists of only nine parts for a total aircraft, with approximately 750 references (while other comparable category airframes have more than 17,000 references).

Elixir Aicraft has gone even further in terms of safety, creating an aircraft with standard equipment including:

  • Spin-resistance (ASTM F3180): To limit loss of control, it’s always better not to enter a spin than to exit one. A report from the French civil aviation authority noted that in 2018, 22 percent of accidents resulted from a loss of control.
  • A ballistic parachute, able to deploy at speeds up to VNE, adds essential safety in emergency situations.
  • A Garmin angle of attack indicator provides live visualization and better awareness of your flight situation.
  • “Crash-worthy” explosion-suppressing fuel tank, reducing the risk of fire following a crash.
  • Reinforced oleo-pneumatic landing gear and combined nose wheel, wide track and low center of gravity minimize bounced landings associated with loss of control accidents and runway excursions.
  • Double-slotted electric flaps reduce ground effect, and the potential for abnormal ground contact.
  • Ailerons remain effective through the stall, increasing maneuverability and crosswind resistance.
  • High performance Beringer wheels with hydraulic differential disc brakes and armored hoses.
  • Flight parameter data is captured by a hardened digital recorder.

Designed for an immediate impact on the bottom line

With the 100-hour inspection taking only 4hours, along with its low-noise Rotax engine (with an average consumption of around 3 gallons per hour), the Elixir is designed for ease of maintenance and offers the low operating costs estimated around $60 per hour for fuel, maintenance and insurance.

In continuous growth since its creation, Elixir Aircraft currently employs more than 90 people and keeps growing. Now is the time to introduce the fourth generation to the U.S. market, which represents more than 70 percent of the global general aviation market.

In 2022, Elixir Aircraft participated in its first American show, the unmissable EAA AirVenture Oshkosh. The Elixir was very well received by the public and professional flight training organizations, the company received over 70 pre-orders and letters of intent.  Elixir Aircraft does not intend to stop there. In 2023, the company plans to open a base in Florida, and participate at multiple U.S. general aviation shows.

Over the coming years, Elixir Aircraft plans to employ more than 200 people in the U.S., covering service, assembly, marketing, and sales. The company plans to invest millions of dollars, financed by worldwide sales, grants, and investments.
