Voice your concerns about Colorado tracon consolidation

Local pilots have a chance to influence the FAA's final decision on whether the FAA will consolidate the Pueblo, Colo., radar facility into the Denver Tracon.
Rep. John Salazar (D-Colo.), a pilot and an AOPA member who sits on the House aviation subcommittee, prompted the FAA to hold a public meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 15, at the Pueblo Memorial Airport passenger terminal lobby to hear from local pilots about the proposed consolidation.
AOPA encourages members to attend the meeting to express any concerns. The FAA wants to fully understand the potential impact the tracon consolidation would have on operations and is relying on local pilots to provide that input.
The association told the FAA that it should not consolidate facilities if it would negatively impact safety and operational efficiency. The FAA wants to consolidate smaller facilities into larger tracons as a cost-saving measure.
Tracons (terminal radar approach controls) provide radar separation of aircraft in busy terminal areas. General aviation pilots depend on tracons for VFR and IFR services.
