Are you bringing a potential pilot to EAA AirVenture? If not, why not? Literally acres of airplanes on the show grounds will spark the imagination of anyone who’s ever wanted to take to the skies.
AirVenture has an entire exhibit devoted to aspiring pilots, and AOPA and the National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI) are helping to get them started right. Bring your wannabe pilots to our Let’s Go Flying and AOPA Flight Training booth within the Learn to Fly Discovery Center, located on the southwest corner of AeroShell Square. Pilots in all levels of training are welcome to stop and see what’s new in the world of flight instruction.
Student pilots can learn all about the various options available for obtaining a pilot certificate, including recreational, sport, or private. AOPA Flight Training Contributing Editor Rod Machado will be at the tent 1 p.m. Friday, July 31, and Saturday, Aug. 1, to offer guidance in his humorous signature style. AOPA staff members will be on hand to answer questions about what’s involved in learning to fly.
“AOPA is excited to join with EAA, NAFI, and other organizations in encouraging people to learn to fly,” said Jennifer Storm, AOPA director of public relations. “We want everyone who visits the Learn to Fly Discovery Center to get the information they need to begin—or continue—their flight training adventure.”
The Learn to Fly Discovery Center plans to issue FAA-authorized student sport pilot certificates free of charge to EAA members. Last year, hundreds of student sport pilot certificates were issued.
Get your student in the cockpit and behind the controls of a Redbird FMX flight simulator, where he or she will experience the thrill of “flying” a variety of aircraft. Simulator sessions are free, and instructors will be ready to help your student get the most out of the experience.
