ForeFlight offers with georeferenced approach plates

Love ForeFlight Mobile HD for the iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad? You now have another reason to fall in love, thanks to a partnership with Seattle Avionics that offers ForeFlight users fully georeferenced approach plates and airport taxi diagrams.

The new subscription, called ForeFlight Pro, is available for download in the Apple iTunes App Store. “We set out to find a partner that could help us deliver the best of breed. We found Seattle Avionics’ quality control and geo-referencing processes best met our needs,” said ForeFlight Co-founder Tyson Weihs.

The application uses Seattle Avionics’ ChartData, the same data used in FAA certified systems such as the Aspen Avionics primary flight display.

“We share ForeFlight’s commitment to quality and attention to details, which is why we were successful in achieving FAA certification of our ChartData for use in approach certified avionics. The combination of ForeFlight Mobile HD and our ChartData is a great step forward for pilots using iOS devices,” said Seattle Avionics CEO Steve Podradchik.

According to ForeFlight, the update also includes enhanced brightness controls for night flying, a heads-up display for the iPhone, enhanced airway support, direct integration with AWOS systems for more frequent weather observation reporting, and additional performance enhancements.

The app sells for $149.95 per year for full U.S. charts.
