Living the dream—that’s how many people describe their journey into aviation. Funding the dreams of individuals and organizations that have a great idea, or are doing great work in aviation is the mission of the Wolf Aviation Fund, which is accepting applications until Dec. 15 for its next round of grant awards.
Applications must meet criteria in seven major program areas that include developing public policy and airports; networking and mutual support; development and alternative resources; communications, media, and community relations; general aviation technology, safety, and noise; improving public understanding and perception; and aviation and space education.
The fund, which to date has supported 307 programs or projects, was a major sponsor of the third annual Teacher’s Day event on July 26 at the Experimental Aircraft Association’s AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wis. Among other programs that gained support in 2010 were the Women to Women program that brought Chinese and American women in aviation together to build a women's aviation effort in China; and Talkeetna Build A Plane, a program offering high-risk Alaskan youth a real-world aviation experience rebuilding a damaged aircraft.
