FltPlan.com, an Internet-based source of fight planning tools with 135,000 active user accounts, now provides current fuel pricing information for more than 3,300 fixed-base operations via its website and mobile apps, the company said in a news release.
Fuel price listings are designed to let a pilot check fuel prices from a single source, avoiding the need to leave the site or call the FBO. A staff dedicated to keeping the database updated contacts FBOs for the information, and has enabled FltPlan.com to post four times as much pricing information as ever before, it said.
"Most of the nation's largest FBOs send automated fuel price updates," said Ken Wilson, founder and president of Southbury, Conn.-based FltPlan.com, which calls itself North America’s largest flight-planning service.
"At smaller airports however, the staff does not have the ability to update fuel on numerous sources, or the fuel is controlled by the city and frequently no one is in charge of posting prices. Airport personnel tell us they are delighted with the program since it doesn't take time away from their customer service personnel to post prices. Pilots have told us we have the most up-to-date fuel pricing available. With FltPlan's fuel-price posting a pilot can be confident he is getting current prices."
Fuel prices appear on FltPlan.com's Airport/FBO information page, or on the Area Fuel Prices page. The information can also be viewed with free FltPlan iPad and Android apps.
FltPlan.com said it also is offering an "FBO fax briefing" that lets pilots notify the FBO, in advance of arrival, about services to be requested, including fuel requirements.
FltPlan.com’s pilot support services include flight plan filing, airport/FBO information, flight tracking, certified eAPIS submissions, SMS (IS-BAO and ACSF), runway analysis, weight and balance, eLogbook program, Mexican/Caribbean/Central America handling, Mexican and Cuban overflight services, pre-departure clearances, FAA-approved certified weather, and participation in the FAA's CDM program, the company said.
