AOPA plans big presence at Northwest Aviation Conference

AOPA will have a major presence at the 2014 Northwest Aviation Conference Feb. 21 to 23 at the Western Washington Fairgrounds in Puyallup, Wash. AOPA President Mark Baker will be a keynote speaker on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 1 p.m. and representatives from AOPA's government affairs and membership departments, the Air Safety Institute, and Northwest Mountain Regional Manager Dave Ulane will also be in attendance.

Feb. 21’s Aviation Career Forum will include AOPA's Airports team which helped develop four sessions on managing successful airports. The sessions will feature participation from the FAA, the Washington state Department of Transportation’s aviation division, and local airport leaders.

The Saturday and Sunday trade show will feature Air Safety Institute seminars, sessions entitled “iPad Flying Best Practices: Dos and Don’ts,” and “Portable ADS-B Traffic: Understanding What You Don’t See.”  Representatives from Member Services and the FlyQ app will be available in the AOPA booth. There will also a meeting of AOPA’s Northwest Airport Support Network Volunteers.

Pilots in the Northwest region attending the conference can learn the latest on AOPA’s ongoing advocacy activities, both nationally and in the region. Attendees can also learn more about important aviation safety issues and opportunities to become more active in general aviation.

“We will also report on our efforts working with the state’s aviation organizations to support additional funding for state aviation programs without increasing taxes on general aviation,” said Greg Pecoraro, AOPA vice president of airports and state advocacy. “This year’s event will be even bigger, and members should be sure to come to the show, especially Friday, if they have, or hope to have, an aviation business or career.”
