How will your panel get ADS-B?

Your aircraft could be the perfect case study

Your aircraft could be a case study for “ADS-B Equipage and Installation,” an AOPA webinar beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on July 13.

This webinar is unique in that aircraft owners may submit information about their aircraft—and could be featured as case studies.

The webinar will be presented by Mike Collins, technical editor and ADS-B subject matter expert for AOPA Media, and Todd Adams, manager of Lancaster Avionics, a full-service avionics shop in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Part of the webinar will explore Adams’ systematic approach to the potentially complicated question of how to comply with the FAA’s approaching Jan. 1, 2020, mandate for ADS-B Out, which will be required to fly in airspace where a transponder is required today.

The remainder of the presentation will include case studies of AOPA members’ aircraft. To have your aircraft considered for inclusion, please email a good photo of your panel—and your answers to the 10 questions below—to Collins by July 5.

Please answer the following questions about your aircraft in the email accompanying your panel photo.

  1. Do you have a WAAS GPS?
  2. If not, do you have a non-WAAS GPS that can be upgraded to WAAS?
  3. If not, do you ever want to have a WAAS GPS?
  4. What kind of transponder do you have?
  5. Are you interested in ADS-B In (FIS-B weather and TIS-B traffic)?
  6. If Yes, where do you want to display the data?
  7. Do you want to display ADS-B In data on a tablet?
  8. Android or iPad?
  9. What app do you prefer?
  10. Are you willing to change apps?

The presenters will choose the most relevant examples for the presentation.

To sign up for the webinar and reserve a seat, go to the website. You will receive an email reminder in advance of the webinar. And if you’re not able to watch the webinar in real time, an archived version of the program will be available for review at your convenience.
