AOPA touts GA at Arizona Aviation Day

Aviation in Arizona creates 9,800 jobs, contributes $261 million in salaries and wages, and produces $1.8 billion in economic output, AOPA told lawmakers and other attendees at the recent Arizona Aviation Day in Phoenix.

In addition, the state boasts 26,220 active pilots, 7,802 GA aircraft, 79 public-use airports, and 3.4 million GA takeoffs and landings annually, the association noted, showcasing the value of GA.

Rep. Noel Campbell (R-District 1), a GA pilot, spoke about the important role aviation plays in the state. AOPA plans to work with Campbell to establish an aviation caucus in the state to help garner support for aviation-friendly regulations.

The event, still strong in its twelfth year, offered pilots the opportunity to visit with legislators and discuss one-on-one the significant contributions that aviation businesses, organizations, and operations make to the state.
