TruTrak autopilot gains new approvals
TruTrak Flight Systems, a manufacturer of autopilots for certified, experimental, and light sport aircraft, announced receiving approval to add more Cessna and Piper single-engine airplane models to its supplemental type certificate (STC) for the TruTrak Vizion autopilot.
The Springdale, Arkansas-based company said the updated STC adds “the remainder of the Cessna 172 series, the Cessna 175 series, the Piper PA–28 series, and the PA–32 series aircraft” to previously approved Cessna 172 and Cessna 177 lines.
“The plan for the remainder of 2018 is to concentrate on adding many aircraft to the AML,” the company said in a news release.
The Vizion autopilot is TruTrak’s first autopilot manufactured for certified aircraft. The company has produced autopilots for experimental and light sport aircraft since 1999.
AOPA reported in July 2017 that TruTrak and the Experimental Aircraft Association worked together on the STC for the Vizion autopilot that can track flight plans, hold altitude, climb and descend at selected vertical speeds, and allow altitude select/pre-select.
It also prevents overspeed and underspeed, and includes an emergency level button and a bank angle protection mode designed to help prevent loss-of-control accidents, TruTrak said.
