Hartzell offers new propeller for Cessna Cardinal 177BHartzell offers new propeller for Cessna Cardinal 177B

Hartzell Propeller has received a supplemental type certificate (STC) for a replacement propeller that boosts the Cessna 177B Cardinal’s performance over factory-standard propellers, the Piqua, Ohio-based company said.

Hartzell Propeller offers the 76.5-inch-diameter, two-blade aluminum scimitar propeller through its Top Prop performance conversion program. The price is $10,800 for the propeller, a composite spinner, and STC documentation for installing the prop on the Cessna Cardinal 177B single-engine airplane.

The new prop betters the 177B’s acceleration, reduces takeoff distance by 5 percent, enhances climb performance, and delivers a two-to-four-knot increase in cruise speed. The propeller is compatible with exhaust systems from Power Flow Exhaust Systems, and meets worldwide noise limits, Hartzell said in a Jan. 22 news release.

“This replacement propeller gives Cardinal 177B owners and operators an opportunity to take advantage of Hartzell's strong reliability and performance advantages,” said Hartzell Executive Vice President JJ Frigge. “Cardinal operators can now get a longer 2,400 hour, six-year TBO and the longest warranty in the business, all the way through first overhaul.”

Hartzell Propeller, now 101 years old, “designs next generation propellers with innovative ‘blended airfoil’ technology and manufactures them with revolutionary machining centers, robotics and custom resin transfer molding curing stations.” Hartzell propeller and its sister company, Hartzell Engine Technologies LLC, make up the general aviation business unit of Tailwind Technologies Inc.
