Avionics systems manufacturer Avidyne announced approval of a supplemental type certificate to install its dual hybrid-touchscreen IFD550/540 Series FMS/GPS/navcom systems in Collins Pro Line 21 Digital Flight Control-equipped Cessna CitationJet models 525/525A.
The STC includes compliance with the Jan. 1, 2020, Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) installation mandate, Melbourne, Florida-based Avidyne said in a news release.
The IFD550 and IFD540 also provide dual 16-watt VHF communication radios, dual VHF navigation and ILS capability, and an option for dual Avidyne SkyTrax 322 remote-mount or SkyTrax 340 panel-mounted Mode S transponders for ADS-B Out.
Operators who upgrade can also receive the IFD100, an iPad App that communicates via Wi-Fi and provides independent, large-screen display and control of the panel-mounted IFD system.
“These legacy CJ aircraft are highly utilized workhorses, and their operators are looking for ways to modernize their panels more affordably, and I think we have just what they are looking for with this package,” said Avidyne CEO Dan Schwinn.
Avidyne can be found at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, in Booth No. 3130A in Hangar C. Avidyne invites visitors to attend its Customer and Media Appreciation Party on July 24 at 5 p.m. at the PHP Tribute Area to EAA Founder Paul H.
