Send Solutions, manufacturer of Airtext, the in-cockpit text-messaging product that uses the Iridium satellite constellation to send SMS messages anywhere in the world, announced the introduction of AirtextLT, a low-cost portable connectivity solution half the size, weight, and cost of the Airtext certified messaging system.
The company debuted AirtextLT July 22 at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, positioning the product to fill a void it says has been created by limited availability of installation slots at avionics shops that are busy installing Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) equipment in aircraft to meet a mandated deadline of Jan. 1, 2020.
AirtextLT is $4,950, with data service priced at $300 per year, which includes the first 500 text messages. Additional messages are five cents per message, the company said in a news release.
The portable system includes a 1.5-inch GPS-type antenna that goes on the glare shield, and a DC or AC converter. Functioning as well as the Airtext certified system, AirtextLT accesses all features including Digital ATIS and FBOlink, the announcement said.
AirtextLT is available through Sporty’s, authorized avionics dealers, and direct from Send Solutions.
Demonstrations are available at AirVenture at Airtext’s booth in the C hall, #3016. A show special is available for free first-year $300 data service of AirtextLT purchases at AirVenture, the company said.
