Bay Flight 2018 planned for Bay Area pilots

Bay Flight, planned to be an annual event, will include safety seminars, panel discussions, and speakers for pilots interested in staying current and learning new skills and techniques. Aviation writer and humorist Rod Machado will be the keynote speaker.

“We hope Bay Flight brings together pilots from all over the area,” said Dan Dyer, chief pilot at San Carlos Flight Center and an organizer of the event.

The inaugural Bay Flight begins at 9 a.m. Attendees can choose between three tracks of panels, presentations, and seminars. Topics include Los Angeles airspace and transition routes, the practical benefits of Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast, radio technique, California weather and the Bay Area, and the emergence of electric airplanes. The day is capped with an ATC panel on tips for improving pilot/controller coordination.

Registration opened May 4. Admission is $265 ($245 if purchased before July 31). Bay Flight attendees will receive FAA Wings credit for appropriate seminars.
