The nine-flight Advanced IFR Techniques and Procedures program familiarizes the viewer with a series of advanced concepts and procedures “that are not normally taught during Instrument training or flight reviews, yet are critical for flying IFR in the real world,” said Mark Robidoux, founder of Nashua, New Hampshire-based PilotWorkshops, in a news release.

The videos bring you along as instructor Ryan Koch briefs, flies, and then debriefs flights designed to reveal and explain the advanced concepts that are “critical” despite not being regularly taught.

“While many consider them advanced, knowing these procedures actually simplifies planning and flying in IFR,” said Robidoux.

The flights cover procedures such as visual climb over airport, departing airports without instrument approach procedures, tower en route control routes, standard instrument departures, standard terminal arrivals, contact approaches, diverse departures, graphical obstacle departure procedures, the circling approach and more.

The videos demonstrate the procedures in real time during the flight, accompanied by instructor tips.

The briefings and debriefs “provide comprehensive preflight planning and a recap of the flight along with teaching points and takeaways pilots can use when encountering these types of IFR situations,” the release states.
