Cirrus adding Texas satellite facility

General aviation single-engine market leader Cirrus Aircraft will build a new facility at McKinney National Airport near Dallas as the company expands its flight training, maintenance, and aircraft management operations.

A news release noted that the expansion will begin with service operations in August, and by late 2020 it will add factory support and training as the brand marches southwest from the Knoxville, Tennessee, Cirrus Aircraft Vision Center that opened in mid-2016.

The growth would “bring an additional 30 jobs to the local community” in McKinney, the Minnesota-based company said. The airfield is about 30 miles north of Dallas. The site was selected after "a nationwide search to identify the most ideal location for its first factory-direct satellite” service facility outside of Tennessee.

The aircraft maker delivered 380 Cirrus singles in 2018, making it the worldwide market leader for piston-engine airplane shipments, according to the General Aviation Manufacturers Association Annual Report.
