The Genesys Digital Radio product line features combined VOR/localizer/glideslope navigation, marker beacon, and VHF communications. It is “designed to interface to a host controller/display that has the capability to control the navigation and communications functions via RS-232, RS-422, or ARINC-429 serial interfaces,” according to Mineral Wells, Texas-based Genesys Aerosystems.

“The GDR is a powerful radio line that is customizable and is the perfect complement to our avionics suite, including our EFIS, autopilot and sensor product lines,” said Gordon Pratt, Genesys Aerosystems vice president of business development. “Special mission customers have been looking for a cost-effective yet feature-rich radio solution and we are excited to provide them a growing number of options.”

The GDR can operate up to 55,000 feet, and between minus 55 and plus 70 degrees Celsius. With 8.33 and 25 kHz spacing, the units can operate around the world. Pricing is based on options and configurations, according to the company's news release. The company declined to elaborate.

“This new radio integrates well with our complete avionics suite solution or has the option to work as a standalone unit.  This type of flexibility and versatility of features is why the industry is seeing a growing number of customers chose the Genesys modernized avionics suite,” Pratt added.
