CAU, AOPA Partner to offer continuing education credits

California Aeronautical University (CAU) is excited to announce a new partnership with AOPA to enhance aviation education nationwide.

Through the collaboration, CAU will provide continuing education credits to K-12 teachers who have completed the training to deliver courses within the AOPA Foundation High School Aviation STEM Curriculum.

As the first curriculum of its kind, the AOPA Foundation High School Aviation STEM Curriculum is designed to spark interest in aviation and aerospace among high school students through real-world aviation principles integrated into classroom learning.

The AOPA Foundation High School Aviation STEM Curriculum, which is reviewed by STEM.org, is available at no charge to schools, districts, nonprofits, and homeschool co-ops within the United States.

Significant benefits to educators

Participation in this unique opportunity can offer significant benefits to educators. The program allows educators to empower their students to explore the diverse opportunities within the aviation field while also investing in their professional development.

The college credits offered by CAU not only validate the efforts of educators but can also play a crucial role in advancing a teacher’s career, opening doors to new opportunities, and may even contribute to salary advancement.

“As a long-time aviation teacher, it's incredibly rewarding to see the dedication and effort we invest into our students being honored by CAU and AOPA,” said Megan Dutto, academic dean at California Aeronautical University. “If you’re interested in securing transcripted credits for your time supporting our youth, I strongly encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity.”

University representatives will be available to discuss how they’re supporting teachers and their classroom, as well as present a break-out session – “Elevate Your Classroom: How CAU Can Support Your Dedication to Aviation Awareness.”

Join CAU during the session to discover new articulation agreement opportunities for eligible schools, which gives students the opportunity to demonstrate proficiency and to apply for college credit – the perfect complement to the AOPA Curriculum.

Supporting aviation awareness

As a university founded to address the rising concerns of aviation for finding qualified, well-trained professionals, this partnership aligns directly with California Aeronautical University’s mission to promote aviation awareness.
