Payroll Technician


Perform a broad range of complex duties to ensure the accuracy of payroll calculations and processing for four organizations.  Maintain and provide detailed information to employees for specific payroll functions.



1.  Process bi-weekly payroll for four organizations, including verification and entry of employee changes, hours, and benefit information; audit and correction of employee data; and transmission of data to payroll processor.  Perform quality control checks after transmission to ensure proper pay was calculated and submitted for all individuals. 

2.  Review electronic timesheets for proper recordation of hours worked, paid time off, and other leave categories.  Input bi-weekly payroll journal entry to appropriate general ledger by the designated timeline.  Research discrepancies and communicate with employees to ensure accuracy and adherence to policies and procedures prior to processing.

3.  Evaluate, interpret, and enter necessary retirement and benefit enrollment forms.  Compile data and calculate compensation increases and retroactive compensation as needed.

4.  Serve as primary contact for payroll processor to ensure payroll system contains up to date information and proper reports are filed with federal and state authorities.

5.  Stay current on wage and payroll related regulations to ensure organizations are in compliance with current laws and regualtions.

6. Serve as additional support for various audits of payroll and benefits including workers compensation, retirement plan, and financial.



Three to five years related payroll experience, ADP or similar payroll processing system experience preferred.
Two to four years accounting and/or general ledger experience preferred, must possess strong Excel skills.
Ability to pay close attention to detail, handle multiple tasks, meet daily, quarterly and annual deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
