Meet Mark Baker

AOPA President Mark Baker and other key leaders will talk about the latest issues facing general aviation and take questions from you at the Pilot Town Hall and throughout the day. Ask critical questions about GA, meet leading AOPA staff, and mingle with fellow pilots.
 

Lunch is FREE for Members

All AOPA members, their spouses and children, will receive a free lunch. It’s AOPA’s way to say “thank you” for your membership. For all non-members, lunch will be $10. Or, join AOPA today or on-site so you and your family can eat for free! Please RSVP now so we can prepare enough food.

AOPA Rusty Pilots Seminar – Stage 3

Once a pilot, always a pilot. Returning to the skies is not as difficult as most rusty pilots think. We're inviting you back into the cockpit and will help you get there. Come and participate in a FREE Rusty Pilot program with fellow lapsed pilots. We will help you understand what's changed in aviation since you've last took the controls and brush up on your aviation knowledge. At the end of the presentation, all attendees will receive their endorsement for completing the ground training required for a flight review!

U.S. Air Force Major Billy Werth "Unusual Attitude Recovery– Gaining Skills & Confidence – Stage 3

Listen as Air Force and airshow pilot Major Billy Werth takes us back to the basics of the important and exciting world of Unusual Attitude Recovery Training.  Billy’s goal is to instill in every pilot—whether they be general aviation, corporate, airline, or military—essential skills to put in their flight bags should they ever need it. Gain confidence by understanding your aircraft throughout its entire flight envelope.

Bruce Landsberg "Say Again? Radio Communication Done Right" – Main Stage

Stymied by radio chatter every time you fly? Does everybody else get "cleared direct" and you don't? The Air Safety Institute digs deeper into radio communication in this information-packed seminar. Find out how to increase your margin of safety through effective communication with ATC. Don't miss this informative safety seminar designed to improve your communication skills and decrease your workload as a pilot.

Marc Epner "Flying Club Meeting" – Stage 2

Listen to Marc Epner of Leading Edge Flying Club as he talks about how to start a flying club. Marc will cover the benefits of being in a flying club and provide guidance for those who want to start one. There will be plenty of time at the end for questions and answers.

Adrian Eichhorn "Pass Me the Wrench: Owner-Performed Maintenance – Stage 3

Aircraft owners don't need to be certificated mechanics to perform many regular maintenance tasks. Spare time, the right manuals, and a few basic tools are more than enough. Be sure to check out this interactive session for the inside scoop on owner-performed preventive maintenance, the regs, and how you can save money.

Getting There 

Fly or drive into the event! The AOPA Fly-In will be rain or shine, so please make plans to join us and get directions now.

Special Flight Procedures

We have designated Indianapolis Metropolitan Airport (KUMP) as a reliever airport for the fly-in. On Saturday, AOPA will have FREE transportation shuttles all day for fly-in attendees between Metropolitan and Regional. The shuttles will depart Metropolitan on the 1/2 hour from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

If you want to beat the rush, fly into Indianapolis Regional (KMQJ) on Friday. Our host FBO, IndyJet, is generously offering a special fuel discount of $.25 off per gallon for thos flying in and purchasing fuel on Friday.

Aircraft Camping

We are pleased to announce that pilots and guests may camp with their aircraft at the AOPA Fly-in at Indianapolis Regional Airport on Friday and Saturday nights, May 30-31. Space is limited. Please review the guidelines for RSVP instructions and campsite rules.

  • $650 for indoor exhibit space
  • $400 for single engine aircraft outdoor static display
  • $475 for twin engine aircraft outdoor static display

       

    Discounts

    For exhibitors with a paid aircraft on the static ramp, a demonstration aircraft on the hot ramp will be allowed at no extra charge.

    Any exhibitor who signs up to exhibit at all six regional Fly-Ins will receive complementary space of comparable size at the Frederick Homecoming Fly-In.

    Sign Up to Volunteer at the AOPA Fly-In, Indianapolis, IN. 

    Volunteers are needed to assist with event set-up, parking attendee aircraft, directing ground transportation, greeting attendees, managing the flow of aircraft, people and vehicles, as well as event tear-down. All volunteers will receive lunch, a Fly-in Volunteer t-shirt, an AOPA hat and the gratitude of AOPA and attendees. This AOPA fly-in promises to be a fun, relaxed event. Come help make it a success!
