May 22 - This year's AOPA's Sweepstakes airplane, the 1966 Beech Bonanza V35, was the last Bonanza with the upright windshield. In 1967, with the introduction of the V35A, Beech installed a more streamlined windshield that changed the fuselage profile, making it more aesthetically pleasing. To convert the Sweeps Bonanza to the modern design, we installed a solar gray STCed Beryl D' Shannon (BDS) Speed Sloped Windshield. This simple change resulted in a more modern-looking Bonanza.
Beryl D'Shannon Aviation Specialties, of Golden Valley, Minnesota, specializes in Beechcraft modifications. BDS will also be supplying solar side windows, and flap and aileron gap seals for the Sweeps Bonanza project.
The windshield kit includes a new defroster, a new glareshield, and an aluminum piece that fairs into the fuselage. This kit is also available for other older Beech Bonanzas, Travelairs, Debonairs, and Barons.
