Aug. 10 Manley Butler of Butler Parachute Systems in Roanoke, Virginia, has donated two parachutes to AOPA's Centennial of Flight sweepstakes airplane, the open-cockpit Waco UPF-7. Butler is shown here in his Roanoke factory. He sells parachutes around the world, supplying smoke jumpers and designing chutes for military applications. Butler is custom-designing a parachute for the rear cockpit of your Waco, sizing it to the exact seat size. It will have inflatable lumbar support to form a comfortable seat for the pilot.
