AOPA's Centennial of Flight Sweepstakes is your chance to experience aviation history. To mark the 100th anniversary of flight, AOPA is giving you the chance to win a true classic of the skies ... a totally rebuilt 1940 Waco biplane trainer!
To celebrate the centennial of the Wright brothers' first powered flight, AOPA asked Rare Aircraft of Owatonna, Minnesota, to restore the original airframe of a Waco UPF-7.
You can read about the Waco's refurbishment - just click on the AOPA Centennial of Flight Sweepstakes links below.
You can't win AOPA's Centennial of Flight Sweepstakes if you don't enter, so renew your membership or join AOPA today, and you will be automatically entered to win! Your entry also qualifies you for monthly drawings to win a ride in a similar Waco biplane.
As the cold weather chills AOPA’s Headquarters in Frederick, many of us are inside generating new resources for flying clubs.
In my house, every Friday night is “Movie Night.” While the movies are rarely educational (I don’t think I learned anything from the Lego Movie), we look forward to the weekly opportunity to spend time together. Why not use the same concept for your Flying Club (with the addition of education, of course)?
AOPA Flying Club Manager Kelby Ferwerda posted the following on the AOPA Flying Club Facebook Page: “Recently I’ve talked with quite a few Flying Clubs about maintaining social activity through the cold winter months. Some clubs host Holliday Parties, others have Potluck Movie Nights. What does your club do to keep members involved during the chilly months?”
