Tampa Class B 'bridge' up and running
A popular uncharted procedure, often referred to as "The Bridge," which allows pilots to transit the Tampa Class B airspace from the northeast to the southwest by flying directly over Tampa International, is fully operational once again. AOPA and Albert Whitted Airport Support Network volunteer Jack Tunstill worked with the Tampa Tracon to restore the procedure after the FAA had suspended it. The procedure had been in place for more than 30 years, but the internal process air traffic controllers used to direct pilots was not approved. The process has been revised, and 60 controllers have been trained on the procedure.
