Burke Lakefront Airport ready for an update
The Cleveland Department of Port Control is in the process of updating the Burke Lakefront Airport Master Plan. So far, the Ohio city has been open to public and airport user input. AOPA wrote the update project manager this week, stressing the importance of compatible land use. The association also explained members' concerns that flight training, aircraft rental, hangar space, and maintenance and fuel facilities remain available at the airport. "Burke Lakefront is a diamond in the rough that needs to be polished so that the true beauty of a viable and thriving general aviation airport can shine through," said John Collins, AOPA senior liaison of airports. "AOPA looks forward to working with members and the aviation community on this process."

It’s a familiar refrain, an effort by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to close a valuable airport. AOPA is again speaking up.
