Don't repeat San Diego mistake, AOPA tells Dublin mayor
A developer, Charter Properties, has proposed building four high-rise structures 2.3 miles from Livermore Municipal Airport in Dublin, Calif. AOPA is opposing the move and this week reminded Dublin Mayor Janet Lockhart of a similar issue in San Diego, in which the developer ignored FAA warnings about the building's height and now must remove the top two stories. AOPA Vice President of Airports Bill Dunn told the mayor that the city has a responsibility to ensure that any construction project contemplated does not pose a hazard to air navigation in the area or a risk to city residents. The buildings, ranging in height from 16 to 21 stories, would be used for residential and business purposes.
