Embraer officials on Oct. 4 announced price hikes for its new Phenom 100 and 300 twinjets.
The Phenom 100’s price will rise to $2.98 million by year-end, and the larger Phenom 300’s price will be $6.85 million, effective Nov. 1.
So far, the Phenom 100 has racked up 1,600 hours in flight testing. Its weight has been frozen, its performance confirmed, and its static load and RVSM tests have all been completed. By the end of 2008, the airplane should have earned its icing certification and IFR approvals, Embraer said. In 2008, 10 to 15 Phenom 100s will be delivered.
The Phenom 300 will be certified with a Garmin G1000-based avionics suite Embraer calls the Prodigy. The Prodigy will now include synthetic vision as standard equipment.
To date, Embraer has 800 orders for Phenoms, representing customers from 44 nations.
Embraer also announced this week that it will build a new plant in Melbourne, Fla. The $51 million, 150,000-square-foot facility will be used as a customer design and delivery center for its Phenom 100 and 300 light jets. The plant, which is planned to have 200 employees, should be fully operational by 2011, company officials said.
Embraer secured a 30-year lease on 25 acres of property from the Melbourne Airport Authority and has an option on 70 additional acres.
Cabin mock-ups will be located at the center, allowing customers to spec out cabin configurations and interior materials.
Advocates for Santa Monica Municipal Airport gathered Aug. 25 to rally support for Measure D, a ballot initiative that would require voter approval before the airport can be closed or redeveloped.
“I never went to an FBO I thought was fun,” said Michael Thayer. Determined to change that, he opened Flying Tigers Aviation at Chino Airport in Chino, California, in June 2013.
