Pilotworkshops.com, which acquired user-friendly manual company ZD Publishing last year, recently released manuals for the GTN 650 and 750.
With an all-new interface and logic of operation, the Garmin GTN 650 and 750 represent a challenge for aircraft owners who have upgraded to the touch-screen GPS/NAV/COMM units. Although Garmin’s manuals go through all the relevant functions, Pilotworkshops.com believes it has a better solution with its “pilot friendly” versions.
Like all the ZD Publishing manuals, those for the GTN 650 and 750 are organized in a step-by-step manner to help pilots work through specific scenarios. They are available in print or electronic formats, and cost $44.95.

A new report from the Department of Transportation’s Office of Inspector General says delays, cost overruns, and technical problems continue to plague the FAA's implementation of ADS-B.
A new report from the Department of Transportation’s Inspector General is critical of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) progress on ADS-B implementation, pointing out delays, cost overruns and inadequate benefits. These and other problems, including inaccurate data that has led to enforcement actions against pilots, mean the FAA may not be able to fully justify the investments taxpayers and pilots have made in the system, according to the report released Sept. 24.
The complexity of engineering and testing a navigator designed to anchor an instrument panel helps explain why Avidyne’s IFD 540 has only just arrived.
