AOPA is advising members of significant rate increases for landing, ramp, and parking at several Mexico airports operated by concession holder Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico.
The government-approved rate increases, which in some cases exceed 500 percent, are based on an aircraft’s maximum takeoff weight (MTOW). However, operators of lighter aircraft will be assessed fees based on a lowest maximum takeoff weight of 11,000 pounds.
Guadalajara, Mexico-based Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico operates 12 airports in Pacific and central Mexico, including Aguascalientes (MMAS), Guadalajara (MMGL), Leon/Guanajuato (MMLO), Hermosillo (MMHO), La Paz (MMLP), Los Cabos (MMSD), Los Mochis (MMLM), Manzanillo (MMZO), Mexicali (MMML), Morelia (MMMM), Puerto Vallarta (MMPR), and Tijuana (MMTJ).
This table shows the new minimum rates for landing, ramp, and overnight parking (per day) for aircraft with a maximum takeoff weight up to 11,000 pounds for each airport. It also provides a comparison of old and new rates for a Cessna 182 at the Los Cabos airport, where the new fees are approximately 238 percent higher daily for parking; 402 percent higher for landing; and have increased by 515 percent on the ramp for a Skylane.
Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico was founded in 1998, and is a publicly traded company with shares listed since February 2006 on the New York Stock Exchange and the Mexican Stock Exchange, according to the company website.
