Navy sets meetings on China Lake Naval Air Station
The Navy has announced three public information meetings as it prepares to draft an environmental impact statement (EIS) for modifying the China Lake Naval Air Station, an airborne weapons and training range located in a busy airspace corridor east of Bakersfield, Calif. The proposal could include changes to existing special use airspace.
AOPA will review the draft EIS to determine the effect on general aviation flight operations of any expansion or modification of the boundaries, altitudes, or times of use of the large China Lake complex.

Pilots are encouraged to submit comments on the aeronautical impact of the proposal through Sept. 8. Please send a copy of your comments to AOPA:
The public meetings are scheduled as follows:
- July 19 from 6 p.m.to 8 p.m. at the USO Building, 230 W. Ridgecrest Blvd., Ridgecrest, Calif. 93555.
- July 20, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Statham Hall/Senior Center, 138 Jackson St., Lone Pine, Calif. 93545.
- July 21, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Trona Community Senior Center, 13187 Market St., Trona, Calif. 93562.
