CAP Historical Foundation names new leader

Lt. Col. Jack Faas (AOPA 1888570) has been named executive director of the nonprofit foundation formed to honor the Civil Air Patrol’s history of defending the Atlantic Coast from German submarines during World War II.

Faas is currently a member of the CAP’s Texas Wing and previously served in the Wisconsin Wing.

Gill Robb Wilson, AOPA’s official first member, helped establish the CAP during World War II as aviation director for New Jersey. The CAP Historical Foundation has distributed memorabilia and educational materials to thousands of CAP members, veterans, and the public.

Using photography of World War II anti-sub operations, the CAP Historical Foundation created an online tribute and plans to build a permanent museum.
