Swearingen may move fuselage manufacturing to Texas

A report by MySanAntonio.com indicates Emivest, the new owner of the Sino Swearingen aircraft company and its SJ30 business jet design, is considering partially consolidating manufacturing in Texas by removing fuselage manufacturing from its new plant in Martinsburg, W.Va. The plant would continue to manufacture SJ30 wings.

Joseph Gullion, chief operating officer for Emivest, told the news service a decision will be made later this year. Complicating the decision is the difficulty of finding financing to make the move in a down economy. The factory in West Virginia was designed for manufacturing the SJ30. The company plans to deliver up to six of the aircraft this year.

Emivest Aerospace is largely owned by a Dubai-based investment company with holdings in a number of diverse industries.
