Hawker Beechcraft sets new initiatives

Hawker Beechcraft Corporation (HBC) now sells its 451-knot Premier IA light business twinjet with free maintenance for five years or 1,000 hours—whichever comes first. The zero-cost maintenance deal is available until September 30.

Hawker Beechcraft has also begun a Safety Management System (SMS), a program of continuous improvement in personal, product, and process safety. This includes changes in corporate policy, procedures, and practices. HBC’s safety initiatives ratcheted up a year ago with the company’s forming a Safety Management Team designed to formulate company-wide safety processes.

By forming its SMS, HBC is among the first to prepare for a European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) directive to implement SMSs as preconditions for doing business in Europe. There is a 2013 deadline for establishing these SMSs.
