Lightspeed Aviation Foundation accepting grant nominees
Pilots can nominate aviation charities for a Lightspeed Aviation Foundation grant through midnight Feb. 11. Aviation charities can receive a grant from the foundation based on the number of online votes from the pilot community or by consumers who designate a portion of their purchase of Lightspeed Aviation headsets to an aviation charity of their choice. Voting is not yet open.
The Lightspeed Aviation Foundation seeks to advance aviation growth, advocacy, and compassion by working with pilots to identify worthy causes and supporting those causes through grants and designated gifts.
“What’s particularly unique about the foundation is that we do not ask or accept financial gifts to fund the foundation,” Lightspeed Aviation Founder and President Allan Schrader said in a press release Jan. 26.
In 2010, the foundation selected 20 charities to open to the pilot community for voting and awarded $50,000 in grants to the top picks during AOPA Aviation Summit in November. But the foundation didn’t stop there. This week, it gifted more than $50,000 among the 20 charities from funds designated by customers.
