Commander not going without a fight
Commander Premier Aircraft Corp. won the right to avoid eviction from its factory at the Cape Girardeau, Mo., airport, but only until Oct. 11, according to a report by the Southeast Missourian. If the company fails to come up with a bond in excess of $140,000 by then, the eviction will continue.
Commander founders have searched frantically for a buyer, and they hope to stay in the factory until one is found. A sale to a Canadian investor failed when he could not get a loan from European banks.
Commander officials had the help of a county judge to stay the eviction. A hearing on their latest efforts to keep the Commander type certificate and tooling from being split up among buyers at an auction is set for Oct. 17. Also swinging in the balance is FAA approval of Commander’s quality assurance program.
