Jet owners can finally live like the rest of us
Although most of us watch TV on high-definition displays every night, the passengers of high-end turbines have long suffered with lowly standard definition. Not anymore. Flight Display Systems has introduced a series of products designed around affordable high-definition screens for corporate and personal high-end aircraft.
The system comprises three parts—the monitors, the switches and converters, and the source equipment. According to Flight Display Systems, some of the components are already installed on most airplanes, such as the common coaxial cable that will reduce the number of necessary switches.
Monitor choices range from 7- and 10-inch personal seat-based displays to 55-inch widescreen behemoths that require bulkheads and custom installation.
Once the system is in place, a Blu-ray player, high-definition cockpit camera, and other sources can display in full 1080p in the cabin. For more information, including the full list of displays and source equipment, visit the website.
