Combining the strength of the Air Safety Institute's In-Person Course with the very best of Jeppesen's home-study program, the Flight Instructor Refresher Clinic Online lets you start anytime. Learn at your own pace, and get a complete education from top industry leaders at a competitive price. The $119 fee includes processing of all paperwork and the issuance of a graduation certificate. Upon successful completion of the course, you will submit your renewal application to AOPA via regular mail. Once your paperwork is received by AOPA, your new CFI expiration date will become effective, regardless of how long it takes the FAA to process your application. Also, when we receive your paperwork, our staff will provide you with a temporary certificate via email, and subsequently manage the filing of your application paperwork with the FAA. Your new permanent plastic CFI certificate will arrive later by regular mail, alleviating any paperwork headaches on your part. Register for the full course in the comfort of your own home.

Important note: To gain full advantage of the evaluation and certification portion of the online CFI renewal course, you must be a certificated flight instructor seeking certificate renewal under 14 CFR part 61, section 61.197(a)(2)(iii). You must hold a valid and current flight instructor certificate at the time of graduation to be eligible to renew your certificate by successfully completing the online course.

The certified version of Jeppesen's Online CFI course includes all lesson content, interactive activities, exams and renewal paperwork processing. This course is designed for renewing a current flight instructor certificate. If your CFI certificate is expired, you cannot use this course to renew it. Course access is limited to 120 days. If you do not complete the course within the 120-day subscription period, you must purchase the course again to complete it.

About the Course

Study Requirements:
Each learning unit is designed and tested to ensure that it takes the average person at least 50 minutes to complete it. The construction of the course requires that you view each page of the text. The CFI will satisfy lesson objectives for this course by passing each exam with a score of at least 70 percent.

Program Security:
Jeppesen hosts the CFI Renewal Online course on a secure internet server which prohibits printing tests, answers or answer explanations. At course completion, you will be required to sign a declaration that no one assisted you in taking the course or the exams. You must sign this declaration prior to your paperwork being processed and your temporary certificate issued.

• Browsers: Internet Explorer 7 or higher, Firefox 3.5 or higher, Safari 5.0, Chrome 9 or higher. 
• Pop-up and ad blockers must be disabled.
• Adobe Flash 9.0 or higher
• Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.0 or higher, or another similar PDF reader
• Java: 1.6.22 or higher

You will receive an email notification once your online course has been set up; this notification may take up to 24 hours. The new course will automatically appear for you in the Jeppesen Learning Center under the Enrolled Modules tab.
