Take a stroll across the tarmac and see all the airplanes on static display. Tour the tents and exhibit halls. Chat with real experts on all the new cockpit technologies. Attend the Rusty Pilots Seminar. Watch aerobatics while feasting on great food and drink. Get re-acquainted with old friends, and make new ones. Have fun. Take in the sights, sounds and smells of general aviation. Be inspired to fly.
As a GA pilot, you want to know about GA stuff. You know, technologies and methods that relate to the kind of airplanes you actually fly. AOPA Fly-Ins are dedicated to providing practical information useful to GA pilots flying real-world GA aircraft. Sure, there may be a jet or two you can walk through (just in case you win the lottery), but most of the displays will feature technologies and gadgets you can put to use tomorrow to make your flying more enjoyable, practical and safe.
Interested in having an AOPA Fly-In at your airport? We would love to hear from you! Download the AOPA Fly-In Requests for Proposals here, and learn what it takes to be a host for an AOPA Fly-In.
Hosting an AOPA Fly-In requires an airport community ready to work together to co-create an event that is much larger than any one group could put together by itself. Enthusiasm, creativity, flexibility, and collaboration are all attributes of successful fly-in hosts. Due to the enormous popularity of these events and the volume of attendees’ aircraft and automobiles, physical space is an important minimum criteria. Infrastructure and systems that can accommodate 500+ aircraft and 1,000+ automobiles safely and efficiently are a must. An enthusiastic aviation community that pulls together will ensure a successful, impactful, and safe event. This Request for Proposals contains valuable details and insights from successful fly-in venues, and will help airport communities discern if an AOPA Fly-In is a good event for your airport to consider.
