Jet Alliance bullish on VLJs

California-based Jet Alliance Inc. is looking forward to growing its business over the next two years.

“This is the day of the VLJ,” Jet Alliance chairman Randall Sanada said at a Nov. 7 news conference at AOPA Expo. “The media have been suggesting that the very light jet era has come and gone, but if ever there was a time when fuel economy and time efficiency were severely needed, this is it.”

Jet Alliance sells ownership shares in its fleet, and also uses its aircraft in a charter operation. The company currently owns three Eclipse 500s—serial number one, the first Eclipse delivered—and one Cessna Citation Mustang. The company awaits delivery of one more VLJ by the end of 2008. It has orders for Eclipse, Cessna, Embraer Phenom 100, and HondaJet aircraft. The Phenom 100 is to be delivered in the first quarter of 2009; the HondaJet, in 2010.

Jet Alliance’s goal is for each aircraft to 45 to 70 hours per month. There are 11 shareowners in California. More than 1,000 more potential shareowners are on a waiting list. Sanada said that two to three dozen have sent in deposits.

Jet Alliance has based its fleet among Santa Ana, Ontario, and Hayward airports. It will also base its fleet at Van Nuys, San Diego, and Camarillo airports. For more information about Jet Alliance, or to inquire about charter or ownership, go to www.JetAlliance.com, or call 805/409-0426.
