FAA Funding Debate

AOPA FAA Funding Debate

The FAA's arguments

FICTION: The aviation trust fund is running out of money because of changes in airline operations. Tax revenues are declining because of lower ticket prices and the increasing use of regional jets (which carry fewer passengers).

FACT: Based on current trends, government economists predict the trust fund will actually have a surplus in the next 10 years. Airline ticket prices have increased an average of 10 to 15 percent in the past year, boosting aviation trust fund revenues.
