As an elected official, can you cite actions you have taken to support general aviation?

ABoth the 2000 and 2004 FAA reauthorization bills that passed Congress while I was chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee included robust funding levels for the airport improvement program (AIP), especially for small general aviation airports. Furthermore, when many of these smaller airports were struggling financially after 9/11, I supported efforts in Congress to assist them.
AAs a state senator in Illinois, I supported efforts to accommodate general aviation traffic at a third Chicago-area airport in Peotone, Illinois, after general aviation traffic was displaced from the closing of Chicago’s Meigs Field.
