Plan your flight online in four easy steps
As an AOPA member you can plan your flight online in four easy steps with aviation weather forecasts, AOPA’s Airport Directory Online, AOPA’s Internet Flight Planner, and a host of information available here.
Step 1: Aviation weather forecast online
Check AOPA’s online aviation weather, provided by Jeppesen, to assess weather patterns and get the big picture well before departure.
Step 2: AOPA’s Airport Directory Online
Look up airport and FBO information from the most comprehensive online airport resource, updated every business day. Print airport information in a convenient kneeboard format. Now including fuel pricing for thousands of FBOs nationwide.
- Download and print current NACO digital instrument approach charts, featuring reduced file sizes for faster downloading.
Step 3: AOPA’s Internet Flight Planner
Plan your route around airspace, current or imminent TFRs, and real-time weather. AOPA’s Internet Flight Planner, powered by Jeppesen, requires no downloads or installation.
- For operating instructions and tips, click on the question mark in the upper right corner of the AOPA Internet Flight Planner screen.
Step 4: Prepare for takeoff
Immediately before takeoff, check AOPA’s Real-Time Flight Planner one more time — for current weather, temporary flight restrictions (TFRs), and other notams — and to file your flight plan. Other helpful links include:
- Anticipated Presidential movement TFRs. Find out about coming TFRs here, before notams are issued and the airspace can be depicted by the Real-Time Flight Planner.
- Know Before You Go, the AOPA Air Safety Foundation’s free online course on navigating today’s changing airspace restrictions.
- Notams and TFR resources
- The Air National Guard’s See and Avoid Web site
- Special-Use Airspace
- International operations
- AOPA’s Handbook for Pilots
