Founded in 1962, the International Council of Aircraft Owner and Pilot Associations (IAOPA) is the federation of 53 national AOPAs around the world. Regional IAOPA offices are located in Belgium, Great Britain, Switzerland, Australia, and Canada.

AOPA represents all of general aviation in world bodies such as the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), one of the specialized agencies of the United Nations.
