FAA honors Boyer for safety efforts

AOPA President Phil Boyer recently received two honors from the FAA, both recognizing AOPA and the Air Safety Foundation’s support for general aviation safety.

The FAA’s Chief Counsel, Kerry B. Long, presented Boyer with a plaque reading, “in recognition of your unwavering support of aviation safety and your longtime advocacy of general aviation. Your tireless efforts have contributed directly and substantially to our being in the safest era in aviation history.”

Meanwhile, the Baltimore Flight Standards District Office gave Boyer its “Good Friend” award, which is the highest honor that can be bestowed from outside of the FAA’s Washington headquarters. The award notes Boyer’s, “ dedication, friendship, and collaboration that created a successful aviation safety forum in our district.” Boyer’s leadership of AOPA and the AOPA Air Safety Foundation were credited with helping create “a true safety culture in the Baltimore area.”
