AirportFest features Earhart airplane
The Lockheed Electra 10 that Amelia Earhart used for her attempt to fly around the world in 1937 disappeared along with Earhart somewhere over the Pacific. Now you’ll get a chance to take an up-close look at an Electra: An all-metal, twin-engine Lockheed Electra 12 similar to the aircraft used for Earhart’s legendary flight will be on display at AirportFest, part of AOPA Aviation Summit Nov. 5 through 7.
The airplane was used for the upcoming film Amelia, a biopic of Earhart starring Hilary Swank, and will be on display for the event at Peter O. Knight Airport in Tampa, Fla. It will be among other vintage aircraft at AirportFest, which features events for the whole family. Walk through the exhibits, listen to presentations about vintage aircraft, and enjoy the many activities AirportFest has to offer.
