Thousands of AOPA members got cash back in 2009. Did you?

AOPA’s WorldPoints Rewards card nets you cash and merchandise

Sure, you’ve got your choice of dozens of credit cards and may already have your preferred card in place as part of your life. But you owe it to yourself to check out the benefits of using the AOPA WorldPoints Reward credit card.

It’s easy to earn points. The formula is simple: One dollar spent equals one point. Since this is an AOPA card, many aviation-related purchases earn you double points. When you spend money at thousands of FBOs or at specific aviation companies (Aircraft Spruce & Specialty; Gulf Coast Avionics; King Schools; Pacific Coast Avionics Corp.; Sporty’s Pilot Shop), you earn two points for each dollar spent.

Maureen Davis, the Bank of America account executive for AOPA, says, “If you charge $5,000 a year on a credit card, and make AOPA’s WorldPoints card your card of choice, using the card is definitely worthwhile.” She says that many AOPA members accumulate 25,000 points and then get a check back for $250. Cash redemption begins with as few as 2,500 points.

Although most AOPA members prefer the cash rebate, according to Davis, you can also redeem your points for merchandise, travel opportunities, and gift cards. Name-brand merchandise, such as products from Panasonic and Titleist, are available along with gift cards from retailers ranging from Red Lobster to Barnes & Noble.

There is no limit to the rebates an individual member can earn with the AOPA WorldPoints card—in cash or in merchandise. Family members and other authorized users can accumulate WorldPoints on your behalf as well.

When it’s time to redeem your points, you don’t have to wait months to get your rewards. Rewards come fast, and it’s easy to apply for a reward, either by telephone or online. The AOPA WorldPoints card also supports general aviation; every time you make a purchase with the card, you send a percentage of your spending back to AOPA—all at no cost to you. That’s revenue AOPA uses to keep dues low and fight for GA on issues ranging from user fees to unfair regulations.
