Road and Runway Rally: Take part in the fun!

On April 10, four adventurous media people will embark on AOPA’s Fun to Fly Road and Runway Rally, and you can be a part of the action!

Two teams, each with a pilot and a driver, will dash from Frederick Municipal Airport in Frederick, Md., to Sun ’n Fun in Lakeland, Fla., with stops along the way. We’re finalizing the route and pit stops so that you can come out and meet the teams at each airport! That’ll also be a great opportunity for an in-person look at AOPA’s 2010 Fun to Fly Remos sweepstakes airplane.

Here’s how the rally will work: One team will fly AOPA’s Fun to Fly Remos, and one will drive a sporty Smart car—and the teams will switch midway.

AOPA Director of eMedia Alyssa J. Miller and Wired.com Correspondent Jason Paur will team up against Flight Training Deputy Editor Ian J. Twombly and Motor Week Associate Producer Steven Chupnick. Let us know your ideas for team names by tweeting (use the hash tag #Fun2Fly) or commenting on the Fun to Fly blog.

All four rally participants will blog, video, and tweet their progress as the rally unfolds in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.

Want to help kick off the fun? Come out to Frederick Municipal Airport (home to AOPA) at 10 a.m. on April 10 to cheer for the teams—we will have breakfast! You can track the rally on AOPA Online where we’ll have blog updates, photos, and videos, or follow the pilots and drivers on Twitter.com (@ajmalay, @ijtwombly, @motorweek, and @jasonpaur).
