Meet Brenda Jennings

For someone who has worked in aviation insurance for 32 years, you’d think that this would be Brenda Jennings’ chosen career. But it was just a coincidence that brought her to her first job in the aviation insurance industry, starting her career working for Don Flowers & Associates in Wichita.

Brenda says, “I was just looking for a job to put my husband through school while he was finishing his degree. I told them I’d only be there for two years.” Today she is Director of Operations for AOPA’s insurance agency and manages the day-to-day operations of the agency.

“I have loads of customer contact,” she says. “I love taking care of AOPA members, talking to them about what they need and how we can serve them.” Ask her what she likes best about her job, she quickly answers, “Even though I’ve been in this business for 32 years, it’s never boring. Every day is fun, and I enjoy my job.”

Brenda adds that there is “never a dull day” and claims that it’s rare for a day to go by where she hasn’t learned something new. She explains, “It seems like every day I encounter something different, something that I haven’t thought about before, or a situation that is not like anything else.”

There’s no typical day for Brenda, other than to make sure the agency is filling its customers’ needs. She says, “We need to be sure we’re sending the correct information and serving our customers in a very timely manner. Of course, we work closely with the home office in Frederick to coordinate our efforts.”

When she’s not working, Brenda has a passion for creating and selling sterling silver jewelry – again just a hobby she got involved in by coincidence. “My granddaughter was visiting and we wanted something to do so we went to Hobby Lobby,” she says. After her granddaughter’s visit ended, Brenda continued making jewelry and has many repeat customers.  Today, Brenda has four grandchildren and adds, “My grandchildren keep me young.”
